I’ve always been creative, trying out every Pinterest idea that piqued my interest and giving my creations as gifts. One day, I thought I would try my hand at these ducks and made a handful for friends and family.
One of the lucky few to get a hand painted duck was my cousin, who was passing out of the Navy. His duck wore the navy uniform, had his initials on and the date of his big day on the bottom. I thought it would be a great keepsake!
A few days later my Aunt posted a picture of the duck on the Raleigh Family Facebook page, and suddenly my life changed! The demand was so high that I set up a Facebook page to take orders and started trading within 12 hours!
The first few weeks were chaotic as I tried to keep up with demand, but by roping the rest of the family in we managed! We had to source more 100% fair-trade ducks, buy enough paint and find room to store all the ducks! It has been a whirlwind, but I am so excited that my hobby now brings so much joy to people, and it is a pleasure to be creating something that will be a cherished gift! What more work-satisfaction could you want as a
